Chuck Amos
Hair Stylist of the Year

From a small town in Massachusetts to New York's Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.), Chuck Amos is undisputeably one of the industry's most sought after hairstylists.  ​Often called "The Magician,"  his artistry and spiritual energy make him a unique tour de force.

Throughout Chuck's storied career, his work has been featured in countless magazines, music videos and CD covers.  He has touched the heads of Diana Ross, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, Vanessa Williams, Tyra Banks, Kim Kardashian, Brandy, Lil Kim, Jordin Sparks, Solange Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Tracee Ellis Ross, Gabby Sibide and Paula Patton, among others.  As the spokesperson for Pantene and Goody, Chuck is also a trusted advisor to consumers.

Notable accomplishments include becoming the first African American to style hair for the cover of French Vogue.  Chuck has also created looks for Fashion Week, shows in NYC, Paris and Milan.  He honed his craft as an assistant to industry legends such as Orlando Pita, Guido Paulau, Danilo, Odile Gilber and Serge Normant.  Today, he continues to help mold the careers of other great stylists, including Tippi Shorter, Kim Kimble and Ted Gibson.

Reggie Wells
Lifetime Achievement Award, Makeup

The term "makeup artist" could have been invented exclusively for Legendary Beauty Icon Reggie Wells.  His clientele reads like the roll of A-list celebrities at a Hollywood gala: Oprah. Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Brooke Shields, Mary J. Blige and Lil' Kim, to name a few.

He has won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Makeup and was also nominated four times for creating some of the industry's most memorable looks. Wells continues to impact industry trends and is credited with masterfully enhancing the beauty of some of the world's most recognizable faces, including Halle Berry and  first lady Michelle Obama.   

Blair Underwood & The BU Collection
Man of Style Award

Best known for his work as an American television, film, and stage actor and director, Blair Underwood is also the designer and creative voice behind The BU Men's Collection, a men’s lifestyle brand by Men's Warehouse subsidiary, K&G Stores.  The brand was established to provide higher quality fashion at affordable prices.

Blair also uses his BU-Collection as a platform to generate revenue for inner city programs that serve youth and families in need.  The label provides an earmark to select organizations across the country that will receive proceeds from the BU-Collection profits.

Blair has gained critical acclaim throughout his career, receiving numerous Golden Globe Award nominations, three NAACP Image Awards and 1 Grammy Award. In recent years, he has appeared on The New Adventures of Old Christine, Dirty Sexy Money, HBO's In Treatment and NBC's The Event.  

Dwight Eubanks
Legend Award for Hair Artistry

Dwight Eubanks is a true Style Purveyor. The native Atlantan has cultivated an international reputation of excellence within the hair industry.  His technical expertise was sharpened while working with industry giants such as Joico, Bronner Brothers and Redken.  Although well known (and loved) as a former castmember of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta," industry insiders know Dwight for his fierce attention to detail and creativity.

 

In 1990, Dwight founded the Purple Door Salon in Atlanta.  Soon after, fashionistas from around the country were flocking to his locale, thereby forging the salon's distinction as Atlanta's "In The Know" beauty destination. 

Throughout his career, Eubanks has masterfully combined technical know-how with an eye for design to create some of the industry's most avant garde hair art.  

McBride Research Laboratories
"Go Further" Legacy Entrepreneurial Award
presented by Ford Motor Company

A pioneer in the black hair care industry, Cornell McBride, Sr.  was born in Savannah, Georgia. He is founder, president and CEO of McBride Research Laboratories, Inc. (MRL), which manufactures and distributes hair care products to international markets.


Since establishing MRL in 1990, McBride has used his talents as a registered pharmacist to develop lines of innovative products called Wave by Design and Design Essentials. His distribution network includes the utilization of product distributors as independent entrepreneurs to take the products directly to beauty salons in the United States, the Caribbean and the United Kingdom.  

Sherita Cherry
"Rising" Icon, Hair

An award-winning hair stylist, Sherita Cherry is the owner of Genesis Hair Art and Evan Nicole Cosmetics in Atlanta.

She has recently been named to Who's Who in Black Atlanta and was presented the Phoenix Award by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed for her commitment to the community through mentoring teenage girls.   Sherita  travels the U.S. as a National Color Educator for John Paul Mitchell Systems while still maintaining a celebrity clientele such as Grammy award-winning  group Destiny’s Child, Michelle Williams,  Letoya Luckett and gospel duo Mary Mary.  A recipient of the Highest Achievement Award by Clairol Professional,  she now serves their Brand Ambassador and judges various international hair competitions.


Currently, Sherita works with the United States Surgeon General, Dr. Regina Benjamin on a nationwide  campaign “Styling Healthier Futures”  sponsored by United Healthcare to educate African-American women on staying fit and looking beautiful.  To learn more about Sherita Cherry, click here.​ 

Merrell Hollis
"Rising" Icon, Makeup

Merrell Hollis calls himself a quiet storm. As a make-up artist and grooming expert, his hands have effortlessly molded the images of an entirely new pop civilization of music, culture and the new black elite.

 

Merrell is currently responsible for the many faces of media maven Wendy Williams.  He is also the grooming and make up consultant for Bad Boy Entertainment. Other celebrity clients include Naomi Campbell, Diane Von Furstenberg and Kim Cattrall.    Merrell has shared his cosmetic expertise on Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight and the CBS Early Show. Editorially, his artistry has graced the pages of Vogue, Harper’s, Bazaar, InStyle, Vanity Fair, Essence, GQ, Details, Interview, Rolling Stone, People and Men’s Health. 

 

His work has also appeared in music videos for Sean ‘P.Diddy’ Coombs, Mary J Blige, Nelly, Usher, Faith Evans and Ludacris, to name a few. 

Shirley Gordon
Trailblazer, Hair

A  top stylist for Wella, with decades of training and experience, Shirley is a Trend Setting Force in the Hair Industry who is know for her vision and style.  
 

Shirley has created coiffures for celebrities such as Vanessa Williams, Chaka Khan, Venus & Serena Williams, Robin Givens, Diana Ross, Selena Ebanks among others. 

She is also responsible for enhancing the looks of many celebrities/artist as the “On Set” stylist for BET's “Rip the Runway” and  The BET Awards.  Additionally, Shirley is frequently in demand among well-known names in the political and media arena, such as Valerie Jarrett and Mellody Hobson.

 

When Shirley is not jet setting, she can be found behind the doors of Strands Hair Studio, her salon in the Washington DC area, where she creates designs for over 300 clients on a weekly basis. 

 

Linda Stokes
Trailblazer, Fashion Design

Linda Stokes, creator of LSO Design, has emerged as the hottest designer to wardrobe Hollywood’s most celebrated superstars.   Her clientele ranges from Gwen Stefani , Jennifer Lopez to  Cher , Janet Jackson to Faith Hill, Britney Spears to Sade, Macy Gray to Shakira, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs to Ozzy Osbourne, N’SYNC, Jessica Simpson, TLC and Patti LaBelle.  Most recenly she designed Cee Lo Green's wardrobe on The Voice.

From every genre, Linda Stokes designs are also seen from Supermodels to Super Athletes.  Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell,  Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Steve Harvey,MoNique,Sommore and Cedric the Entertainer, Lil Kim, Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson.  She ahs also has assisted in making garments for celebrity clothing lines for Sean John, JLO,  Macy Gray, Will I AM, Monique, Missy Elliot, Gwen Stefani, among others.
